Pluto TV Launches 3 New Free Channels, Including Battlestar Galactica

Every month, Pluto TV, one of the major ad-supported streaming services on the market, adds to its lineup of free channels, giving customers more viewing options without having to fork over any money.

At the beginning of May, Pluto TV added three new free offerings, including a channel solely devoted to an iconic science fiction franchise.

What free channels did Pluto TV add in May?

According to Cord Cutters News, Pluto TV debuted Pluto TV Adventure and Pluto TV Hometown Drama, along with a channel completely dedicated to the sci-fi series Battlestar Galactica.

Pluto TV Adventure focuses on "heroic figures battling threats to humanity," while Pluto TV Hometown Drama caters to programming chronicling the everyday lives of rural and small-town America.

Battlestar Galactica is the big draw

Created by Glen Larson in 1978, the Battlestar Galactica franchise has remained popular for decades. The original movie led to the first series in 1978-79, followed by Galactica 1980 one year later and the Battlestar Galactica revival series, which ran from 2003-09 and has a 95% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 8.7/10 mark on IMDB.

"This channel features the full award-winning series, allowing fans to follow the epic journey of leadership, survival, and moral dilemmas in a post-apocalyptic universe," writes Cord Cutters News' Luke Bouma. "With its intricate plotlines, philosophical undertones, and groundbreaking visual effects for its era, the series has maintained a dedicated following over the years. Pluto TV's decision to dedicate a channel to this title makes the entire saga available for binge-watching or casual viewing at any time, appealing to both longtime enthusiasts and newcomers discovering the franchise."

The most recent TV series in the Battlestar Galactica franchise was 2010's prequel Caprica.
