All Post Office Locations to Close, Mail Won't Be Delivered - Plan Now

Millions of Americans use the U.S. Postal Service each day, so it's important to know when it's open and closed.

Well, it's time to plan now, because the U.S. Postal Service will close for one day next week.

In honor of Memorial Day on Monday, May 25, all U.S. Post Office locations will be closed, and regular mail delivery will also not happen. This will only last for one day, though, and all locations will open and regular mail delivery will resume on Tuesday, May 26.

Even Though All Post Office Locations Will Close, Kiosks Will Be Open

According to the U.S. Post Office, even when locations are closed, customers are able to use many of the postal products and services available on their network of self-service kiosks, which are available around the clock in select U.S. Post Office lobbies. Visit the Postal Locator online for the latest holiday hours by location.

The kiosks feature postage printing for Priority Mail, Priority Mail Express, and international shipping, stamps for purchase, the ability to weigh and mail packages, and package tracking information.

Memorial Day honors those who have died for the United States while in military service. According to research from History, "Originally known as Decoration Day, it originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971."

So, Memorial Day is a time to remember and honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for the country in the armed forces.
