My ultimate dream dog is the Bernese Mountain Dog. I have always wanted one, and one day, I'm going to get one. There is no way around it. For now, though, I just have to watch them on the internet and think about how awesome my eventual dog will be.

This Bernese Mountain Dog has me second-guessing, though. He's got the coolest honey-colored coat, and he's absolutely gorgeous. When it's time for me to get one, I think I need one who looks like him:

Boone the Bernese Mountain Dog is so stunning. He looks like that because he's actually a Great Pyrenees/Bernese Mountain Dog mix! You can see a little bit of the Great Pyrenees in his snout, and obviously in his epic coat color, but that's pretty much it. The rest of him is total Bernese!

The best part about Boone is that he almost appears to be missing the last part of his Bernese Mountain Dog coat. He's got the white and tan fur, but it just looks like someone took his jacket off!

As a Great Bernese, Boone has a lot of big feelings. One of the biggest is that he really loves being outside: when he can't be there, he tends to get a little annoyed. When he is, though, he's really in his element:

He definitely looks a little more Pyrenees in that video: as he's gotten older, more of his second parent breed has come to the surface. His bushy tail and extra fluffy coat really carry those genes!

The Great Bernese Is a Great Companion

While the Great Pyrenees is not typically a breed people get for companionship, the Bernese Mountain Dog definitely is. They're outgoing, friendly, and absolutely stunning.

The Great Bernese is the perfect mix of both. This is a breed that needs a family with an active lifestyle, and you'll need to take them outside often: it's where they're most comfortable. These dogs usually love:

  • Snowy walks.
  • Hikes.
  • Games of fetch in wide open spaces.

Though they can enjoy running, they might not be a great companion for a long, sustained run. Because they're on the larger side, running for long periods can quickly lead to overexertion. A light jog would do fine, as long as you bring lots of treats!
