Is Subway Open or Closed on Memorial Day?
A record number of Americans will be traveling for Memorial Day, despite the gas prices sitting at the highest prices since 2022.
45 million Americans in total are expected to travel at least 50 miles from home for Memorial Day between Thursday, May 21 and Monday, May 25, according to data from AAA. 39.1 million people are expected to travel by car with another 3.66 million expected to fly to their destinations.
"Memorial Day marks the unofficial start of summer, and for most Americans, it's a three-day weekend," said Stacey Barber, Vice President of AAA Travel. "Travel demand remains strong, and despite higher fuel prices, many people are prioritizing leisure travel during holiday breaks."
With over 39 million traveling by car, some will be wondering where to grab a quick bite to eat.
Subway Will Be Open on Memorial Day
Subway owns the largest number of restaurants in the United States and all operated as independently owned franchises. For that reason, attempting to find whether or not a specific Subway location is open is difficult, but Subway Menupedialists Subway as being open on Memorial Day.
Subway restaurants "are independently owned and operated, so customers should check with their local restaurant regarding specific holiday hours," USA Today advised.
What Is Memorial Day and When Is It Observed?
Memorial Day is an American holiday on the last Monday of May.
"It honors fallen service members of the U.S. military," the Wounded Warrior Project said. "Americans began to recognize Memorial Day in 1868, and the country established it as a federal holiday in 1971. Originally known as ‘Decoration Day,' the holiday started with communities coming together to decorate the graves of those who died during service."
