Rob Mac Explains Teaming Up With Enterprise for a Massive World Cup Free Car Giveaway (Exclusive)

As one of the stars of Welcome to Wrexham and a Wrexham A.F.C. co-owner, Rob Mac has become one of the most famous people in football (or soccer). Now, he is teaming up with Enterprise to be the face of a new campaign focused on the World Cup that will give fans the opportunity to win a free car.

Mac and Enterprise are launching the #OnEveryCorner sweepstakes. It will give fans in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Ireland, Germany, Spain, and France the chance to win a free car during the World Cup. Here are the official rules: If a corner kick is awarded, participants must promptly post #OnEveryCorner with #Sweepstakes and tag @Enterprise on X. If a corner kick results in a qualifying corner kick goal, one lucky entrant will win a car. Fans can also enter a separate free drawing for another chance to win a car throughout the tournament at OnEveryCorner.com.

During an exclusive Men's Journal interview, Mac explained why the campaign excited him. The beloved It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia star also reflected on why the sweepstakes will add even higher stakes to the already pulse-pounding sports event.

Rob Mac Says the '#OnEveryCorner' Sweepstakes 'Gave Him Goosebumps'

Men's Journal: I'm sure you get offers to do campaigns all the time. What was it about working with Enterprise on the On Every Corner campaign that excited you?

Rob Mac: Thank you for asking that. Yes, I do a lot of work with partners and sponsors for the club, for Wrexham. But I very rarely do otherwise. In fact, it's been 25 years since I did a commercial or partnered with somebody outside of the football club. And it's not because I don't have incoming calls, it's because they just didn't necessarily make sense. This campaign jumped out at me because I got goosebumps when I heard what the promotion was. I usually use that as a pretty good indicator of something that I should do.

Men's Journal: What about this opportunity specifically got you so excited? Was it just like the core idea of the sweepstakes?

Rob Mac: I love the idea. I mean, everything that we try to do at Wrexham, and so much of the work, whether it was the club or the documentary or all the work that we're doing, is community-based. To me, I just love the idea of a community of people being offered this incredible opportunity to win a car. A car is a life-changing event. Coupling that with the biggest tournament in the world coming up this summer and the most exciting moment of the sport, which is a corner kick, just made sense.

I also have a personal relationship with Enterprise because they were in my corner, not to make a bad pun, but it's true. 25 years ago, it was the first rental car I ever rented when I came out to Los Angeles to visit, and I got rear-ended on the freeway. I didn't know who else to call. I was so scared. I didn't know anybody. My dad was 3,000 miles away. I didn't have any friends. I didn't know what to do. So, I called Enterprise. I said, "Sorry, your car just got totaled."

They sent somebody over, and I didn't know what was going to happen. I thought I'd get admonished. I was a young adult. But they wound up giving me a loaner car immediately that day. They came and picked me up on the side of the freeway and gave me another rental. I just remember being very young and thinking, "Wow, that's customer service in a way that I've never seen." They just made it really easy.

After that, I didn't really have a relationship with them other than renting cars from them from time to time. But when the call came in from them, I was like, "Wow." The promotion, plus my relationship with Enterprise, just seemed to make sense because they were in my corner, and they're also on every corner all over the world. This promotion extends to the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Germany, Spain, and France. So, they are literally in every corner of the world, and they are giving people an opportunity to win a car.

Men's Journal: I once needed to quickly rent a car to pass my driver's test before my license was about to expire. Enterprise hooked me up at the time. That was many years ago, but that stuck with me as well. It really speaks to how those experiences stick with you, and in this case, made you want to work with them.

Rob Mac: Honestly, I have turned down many campaigns. I'm very fortunate to get these kinds of offers from time to time. But this one just really resonated with me because it seemed so genuine and sincere. They're giving people an opportunity to win something that could change their lives.

Over the course of the tournament, there are 48 teams. There are 104 matches, and the numbers work out that there are likely to be about a thousand corner kicks in those games. So, with a thousand corner kicks, that gives you a thousand opportunities to win a car. Knowing that, I just thought, "Man, what a great way to connect with the community." And it just made so much sense.

Men's Journal: Do you feel like you are going to be extra excited when you're watching the World Cup games and you see a corner kick come up that you recognize qualifies for somebody to win a car?

Rob Mac: That's a great insight, and it's something I only realized while I was shooting the commercial. I didn't even think about it before that. But as we were making the spot, I realized, "Oh, wait a second, I have a vested interest now in every game."

Before I was invested in the USA, obviously, and Mexico, because I live in Los Angeles and I have so many Mexican friends. In Mexico, they live and die by their country's national football team. Wales, unfortunately, is not in it. But we have two players from Wrexham who were called up to play in the World Cup for Scotland and New Zealand. So, I had all of those clubs that I was already rooting for.

Then, I realized, "Oh, wait a second, I actually now have interest in every single one of these games because I want to see somebody win a car." All that people have to do is when the ref signals for a corner kick, post on X, hashtag #OnEveryCorner, hashtag #sweepstakes, and tag @enterprise. Then, if it becomes a qualifying corner kick goal, you will be doing your own goal celebration, because you could win a car. By the way, I want to note that anyone who isn't on X can go to OnEveryCorner.com to learn more.
