Every parent will know that moment when a child yells that they're not tired; it absolutely means they are exhausted. According to this golden retriever, the same goes for dogs.

For Zebby (and most goldens we know), there's nothing more fun than going for a swim all day. This breed loves to go swimming, and they will stop at nothing to get some extra pool time. Even if it means resisting the urge to take a nap.

Even though his human consistently asked him if he was tired, Zebby just wanted a few more minutes in the pool, sleepy eyes and all.

Like any child throwing a temper tantrum, Zebby wasn't going to leave the pool anytime soon. Even if his eyes were starting to close and his head was growing heavy. Despite himself, Zebby was going to try everything to get into another quick dip in the pool.

Although his mom explained they had already been "swimming for five hours," this golden retriever didn't want to hear a single word about leaving just yet. Through the classic expressive eyes of a golden retriever, Zebby's temper tantrum was a mix of not wanting to leave and urgently needing a nap.

"They really are such beautiful creatures, not a bad bone in their bodies. Don't worry Zebbie you can swim again tomorrow," commented one user.

Another person added, "The golden marshmallow needs more swim time," as if the first five hours weren't enough.

"Even HE doesn't know why he's crying bro!" summarized another viewer.

Just like any other baby, Zebby's tantrum was a total surprise for him, too.

Why Do Golden Retrievers Love Swimming?

For Zebby to enjoy swimming for five hours and beg for more, it has to mean that this pup truly loves being in the water. However, this isn't just exclusive to swimming. The majority of golden retrievers love swimming, and for good reason.

Originally bred to retrieve ducks for hunters, golden retrievers have an instinct for swimming. It also helps that their bodies are built for the activity. With webbed paws and a water-repellent coat, these dogs were made to be in the water. Since golden retrievers are also high-energy breeds, swimming lets them burn off their energy while fulfilling their need to work and play.

But as we can see with Zebby, this pup may have finally hit his limit for the day.
