Pixar's Latest Animated Hit Streams on Disney+ Sooner Than You Think
Pixar dominated the animated movie market for years before its first "rotten" movie hit in 2011 when Cars 2 received unfortunate marks from fans and critics alike.
The beloved animation studio hasn't messed up since, though several films like The Good Dinosaur, Lightyear and Elemental haven't received as much love as films like Inside Out 2 or the latest hit from Pixar, Hoppers.
The latest film from Pixar wasn't exactly a box office smash compared to its other films, but the critical reception was on par with the studio's best.
'Hoppers' Coming to Disney+ Soon
Hoppers hit theaters in March and those who missed the theatrical release weren't exactly sure when the film would start streaming on Disney+.
They won't have to wait long. Disney revealed the movie will start streaming on its platform on June 3.
The film opened to over $45 million domestically, in the best opening weekend for a Pixar original since 2017's Coco, and ultimately grossed over $371 million worldwide.
What Is 'Hoppers'?
Pixar's latest film, directed by Daniel Chong and written by Jesse Andrews, features some of the biggest names in the movie industry like Meryl Streep and Jon Hamm.
"In this animated comedy adventure, animal lover Mabel seizes an opportunity to use a new technology to 'hop' her consciousness into a lifelike robotic beaver and communicate directly with animals," Pixar wrote of the synopsis of the film. "As she makes amazing discoveries, Mabel befriends a charismatic beaver and must rally the entire animal kingdom to face a major, imminent, human threat."
The movie received a strong 94% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes while fan gave it a 93%. It was one of the best-reviewed non-sequels from Pixar since Coco.
