Popular Amazon Lounge Chairs Recalled Over Severe Amputation Risk
Now that summer is (basically) here, you may want to check your patio furniture. If you have these popular chairs from Amazon, you may want to think twice before you sit outside in the sun.
Furniture maker Giantex has recalled 1,155 lounge chairs over a severe amputation risk. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, there's a pinch point that consumers place their fingers in when adjusting the chair. If fingers get caught in it, the chair could cut them off. Giantex received one complaint of the chair amputating a consumer's finger, leading to the recall. Certainly no one wants to start their summer like that.
The affected chairs were sold on Amazon as well as on Giantex's website from August 2023 until October 2025 for $75 to $90. They're large blue lounge chairs, measuring 76 inches long, 23 inches wide, and 13 inches high. The backrest has an adjustable lock with five positions - which poses the amputation risk - ranging from 13.5 inches to 26.5 inches. NP10025NY, the model number, is found on the front and side of the chair's original packaging.
What to Do If You Have a Recalled Giantex Chair
If you have a recalled Giantex chair, the company recommends you stop using it immediately. You can contact the company for a full refund. You can either return the chair to the company in a prepaid package they'll send you, or you can choose a more fun option: channel your inner anger and destroy the chair. Giantex instructs that you detach the headrest pillow and cut the fabric. You then must send them photos of the destroyed fabric, because "pics or it didn't happen."
You can contact Giantex via phone at 844-242-1885, email at support@giantex.com. The product recall page on their website notes that you can also reach out to them directly through Amazon if that's where you purchased the item.
