Watch 'Everything Everywhere All at Once' on HBO Max Before It Leaves on June 30, 2026

2022 was the year of Everything Everywhere All at Once. The record-breaking film, helmed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert (collectively known as the Daniels), was a force of nature and one of a kind. You can currently watch it on HBO Max, but not for long-the sci-fi movie will depart the platform sooner rather than later.

For the uninitiated, here's a synopsis:

"A middle-aged Chinese immigrant is swept up into an insane adventure in which she alone can save existence by exploring other universes and connecting with lives she could have led." It stars Michelle Yeoh as Evelyn Wang, Stephanie Hsu as Joy Wang/Jobu Tupaki, Ke Huy Quan as Waymond Wang, James Hong as Gong Gong, and Jamie Lee Curtis as Deirdre Beaubeirdre.

The Daniels directed from their own script, which they began developing in 2010. It's a blend of absurdist/surrealist comedy, drama, and sci-fi, delving into relevant themes like generational trauma, existentialism, depression, and Asian American identity. It packs a profoundly emotional wallop.

On the box-office front, Everything Everywhere All at Once was a triumph. It grossed $143.4 million worldwide on a budget of $14-$25 million. Slated for a limited release in the US on March 25, 2022, the film returned to select IMAX theaters for one night only on April 29 due to its popularity. It was re-released again on Jan. 27, 2023, in celebration of its numerous Oscar nominations.

On Rotten Tomatoes, the movie sits pretty at 93 percent on the Tomatometer and 79 percent on the Popcornmeter. Critics like David Ehrlich of IndieWirehailed Everything Everywhere All at Once as an "orgiastic work of slaphappy genius," particularly lauding Yeoh's performance as a career-best turn. The film received 11 Academy Award nods and took home seven statues for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress for Yeoh, Best Supporting Actor for Quan, Best Supporting Actress for Curtis, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Film Editing.

Everything Everywhere All at Once will leave HBO Max on June 30, 2026. Be sure to watch it (or rewatch it) before it waves farewell.
