Wild Video Shows 31-Year-Old Woman Falling into Manhole

No, this isn't the scene of a comedy movie, or even a claymation.

This is video of a 31-year-old woman who fell into a manhole and needed to be rescued by an unlikely hero.

The incident reportedly unfolded in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The unidentified woman had just been dropped off by motorcycle and was apparently on her way to work. The video shows the woman distracted by her cell phone before she steps on the heavy lid and plummets into the manhole.

You can see in the footage that she took a nasty hit to the chin from the heavy metal lid before completely disappearing.

"That was like a 3-4 hit combo on the way down," one person commented on social media.

The motorcycle driver who had just dropped her off stayed long enough to witness the whole thing. He can be seen in the video rushing to rescue her.

Local reports say that the woman was taken to a hospital to treat her moderate injuries, including those to her head, neck, and back.

Authorities in Rio say that CCTV footage caught two men trying to steal the cover and failed. But they tampered with it enough that it became loose and dangerous.

Someone commented on social media, "Ugh big fear. I never walk on them. I hope she is okay."
