Smoke, Sip, Repeat: The Caribbean's First Cigar & Rum Festival Is Coming
Oliva. Montecristo. Romeo y Julieta. Arturo Fuente. Rocky Patel. Tatuaje. Drew Estate. Davidoff.
Those are just some of the 28 featured brands at Casa de Campo Resort & Villas' inaugural Cigars in Paradise Cigar & Rum Festival, taking place June 25 to June 28, at La Romana in the Dominican Republic, a little less than an hour outside of Punta Cana.
What to Expect at the Inaugural Cigar & Rum Festival
The immersive, first-of-its-kind event in the Caribbean will bring top cigar and rum makers from the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, and Honduras to a five-star resort setting, where guests will have the opportunity to directly engage with experts. The 7,000-acre property will host curated tastings and pairings, live entertainment, and a variety of experiences, all against a picturesque tropical backdrop.
The festival's itinerary will also include seminars with expert cigar blenders and rum producers, among them Cigar Snob magazine editor and publisher Erik Calviño.
Casa de Campo Resort & Villas offers enticing packages that include golfing at three of its pristine courses, including Pete Dye's famed Teeth of the Dog. For golf novices, there's the Golf Learning Center, featuring Trackman technology.
Daytime activities include horseback riding, tennis, pickleball, and even skeet shooting at the 245-acre Outdoor Shooting Center. The festival package includes a range of luxury accommodations, daily breakfast, lunch, and dinner, unlimited premium beverages, and an exclusive cigar factory tour.
"This inaugural festival was created to be the Caribbean's premier Cigar & Rum Festival and provide an experience that is truly special for cigar and rum aficionados alike," said Jason Kycek, SVP & Chief Marketing Officer at Casa de Campo Resort & Villas. "Cigars in Paradise is more than a festival; it's a celebration of artistry set against the unmatched beauty and hospitality of our resort. We're honored to bring together leading cigar makers from across the Caribbean and Central America for what promises to become a signature annual event that is considered to be the Caribbean's premier cigar and rum festival."
Casa de Campo Resorts & Villas is famous for its private villas with dedicated staff, premier suites, and casitas -- all with your own golf cart to explore the expansive grounds, including the 12,000-square-foot Spa Casa de Campo. The wellness center features the innovative hydrothermal circuit, sauna, steam bath, pool, cold plunge, thermal loungers, Kneipp Walk, and an outdoor pool.
Enjoy crystal-clear turquoise blue water at the resort's private beach, Minitas Beach. Catalina Island is just a quick excursion away, as is Palmilla Beach on Saona Island, which is part of the government-protected Parque Nacional del Este, and famous for the starfish found in the waist-deep waters.
There are eight restaurants on the premises, including Lago, which overlooks the Teeth of the Dog.
How to Get There
La Romana International Airport (LRM) is five minutes from Casa de Campo and caters to private jet service from around the globe. A short drive from the resort, Santo Domingo (SDQ) and Punta Cana (PUJ) operate daily direct flights from all major North American airports.
