Most cats have a reputation for steering clear of water whenever possible. Turn on a faucet, fill a bathtub or even bring out a damp washcloth and many felines will make a quick exit. That's why one black cat has captured so much attention online after doing the exact opposite.

In a YouTube Short shared by creator @Balletblondie, viewers are introduced to a fluffy rescue cat whose daily routine seems to break nearly every cat stereotype in the book. The video begins with his mom holding him upside down while joking, "Sometimes I wonder if my cat from Craigslist is even real." The cat appears completely relaxed as she explains some of his more unusual habits. According to his mom, the "stage 5 clingy" feline sleeps on her face every night, follows her into the shower every day and seems to have absolutely no fear of water.

As the video continues, it becomes clear why so many viewers compared him to a dog. While many cats tolerate affection on their own terms, this little black cat seems happiest when he's attached to his favorite human. His mom even acknowledges that some people might find their shower routine unusual, but for the pair, it's simply part of their daily bonding ritual. Rather than resisting or trying to escape, the cat calmly allows his owner to wet his tail while he looks around the shower as if nothing out of the ordinary is happening.

When Shower Time Becomes the Highlight of His Day

The video documents the cat's surprisingly relaxed reaction to water from start to finish. As his mom carries him into the shower, she explains that her rescue cat genuinely enjoys joining her during bath time.

At one point, she gently runs water over his tail while telling viewers, "Let's get that water. Let's get your tail wet." Instead of pulling away, flattening his ears or showing any signs of discomfort, the cat remains completely calm. He even begins grooming himself while standing beneath the stream.

His mom repeatedly expresses disbelief at how unbothered he is by the entire experience. "He somehow loves water," she says as she turns him around and holds him in different positions. The cat barely reacts, quietly observing his surroundings while droplets soak into his dark fur.

The mom affectionately refers to him as her "little babushka" because she thinks he's beautiful. Perhaps the funniest moment comes when the shower is turned off. Rather than looking relieved, the cat stares upward toward where the water had been flowing, almost appearing disappointed that the experience has ended.

Back in the living room, his mom explains that after every shower, he gets the zoomies "like a dog." Sure enough, the camera catches the damp cat darting around before stopping to stare curiously toward the lens.

Viewers couldn't get enough of his laid-back attitude. One commenter wrote, "Having a chill cat is a gift." Another joked, "My cat took all his fear. ALL of it."

What makes the video so fascinating is that while many cats dislike being submerged in water, individual personalities can vary dramatically. Some cats become comfortable around water through positive experiences early in life, while others simply seem more curious than cautious. This rescue cat appears to fall firmly into that second category.

His calm confidence also reminded viewers of other cats that break feline stereotypes, including a cat that happily rides along on adventures in this story about a cat who loves car rides. And much like the fiercely devoted feline in this story about a cat guarding Dad's French fries, this black cat seems determined to stay close to his favorite person no matter what.

Whether he's showering, cuddling or sprinting around the house afterward, one thing is clear: this unusually relaxed rescue cat is perfectly content doing things his own way.
