The Rock Reveals Cancer Scare After Finding ‘Painful' Testicle Lump

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is opening up about a recent cancer scare.

The actor covers the new issue of Esquire, where he made the reveal about his health. While he disclosed that he is totally "fine" now, Johnson detailed a concerning 24-hour period for him during which he wasn't sure whether he had a potentially life-threatening diagnosis.

As noted by the reporter, Johnson's reveal came out of left field after "some unrelated thing I said made him think of it."

He then explained that while he was taking a shower on a Friday morning, he felt a lump on one of his testicles. He shared that it hurt when he touched it, but he hoped it would go away over the coming weekend. The following Monday, he was due in Las Vegas to promote an upcoming Jumanji film with Kevin Hart and Jack Black.

It appears he's talking about an April 2026 appearance at CinemaCon, where studios trot out the stars of their upcoming releases for movie theater exhibitors.

As he continued to feel pain, Johnson said he didn't even tell his wife, Lauren Hasian, about what he was experiencing.

"I didn't want to worry her before I knew if it was anything to even worry about," he said. "By the way: I'm fine. But I didn't know that then, and the thing was really painful."

After setting up an appointment on Sunday, Johnson went to his doctor's office on Monday morning. At the time, the doctor said the lump could be due to two different things: cancer, or epididymitis, an inflammation of the area of the testicle which stores and carries sperm.

While the doctor wanted him to get an ultrasound ASAP, Johnson had to head to Sin City for the Jumanji presentation later that day. He didn't get the ultrasound until the following day.

"So I had to live with that for those twenty-four hours, not knowing-and I had to be on all day, joking around, making speeches," he recalled, before insisting, again, that he's "okay" now.
