Backstage Update on When CM Punk Will Return to WWE

WWE fans won't have to wait too much longer for CM Punk's return to television.

The 47-year-old wrestler last appeared on the post-WrestleMania episode of Monday Night Raw on April 20 after losing his World Heavyweight Championship to Roman Reigns. Punk had a brief interaction with WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, who told him, "Just say when" regarding a potential title match.

Some fans have speculated on the reason behind his absence from WWE programming. One rumor is that CM Punk is unhappy with WWE and requested his release, though that is not the case.

In an update, WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select (h/t WrestlingInc.com) reports that CM Punk's WWE return isn't far off. Sources told WrestleVotes that Punk is expected to return on or before the July 6 episode of Raw. That show will be held at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, just outside of Chicago, which is CM Punk's hometown.

The 7/6 Raw show will take place nine days after Night of Champions 2026, WWE's next pay-per-view event.

CM Punk Will Likely Have a Major SummerSlam 2026 Program

SummerSlam is WWE's second-biggest annual show, behind WrestleMania. Usually, the company stacks the card with its top superstars and part-time performers like CM Punk.

With John Cena, AJ Styles and Goldberg retired, WWE is especially reliant on part-time stars like Punk and Brock Lesnar to carry the product. Ultimately, it would be a surprise if CM Punk wasn't booked for one of the main event SummerSlam matches.
