Sometimes the simplest way to make a statement is to just stand still, or in the case of a very cute cat named Max, just loaf.

This British Shorthair cat loafs like there's no tomorrow.

His loaf position is so perfect that he truly resembles a chicken nugget in this viral cat video.

Though his mom thinks he resembles a chicken nugget when he loafs, viewers compare him to a loaf of bread, a snail, and a bunny.

Max is truly an adorable kitty with his little face and those big cheeks.

According to the British Shorthair cat's account, it looks like he's a very curious cat with those big blue eyes. He also loves the Knicks, sitting in cardboard boxes, and watching his mom do stuff.

He also loves pup cups, it seems (though maybe they should be called kit cups based on this development).

Why Do Cats Loaf?

Though we love it when cats loaf because it's just so darn cute, as Max displays in the video, we have to wonder why they do it.

Tucking your appendages under your body doesn't look particularly comfortable, but there must be a reason behind it.

It actually turns out to be a very comfortable position for kitties.

And if they're in this position, it typically means they are very happy cats.

The loafing position can have different meanings, but contentment is usually the main one, and it means they are very comfortable near you.

Other reasons some cats like to loaf indicate that they trust you and their surroundings.

The loaf position also provides warmth.

Putting their appendages under their body helps conserve energy and heat (and it just happens to be adorable!).

Now, in less typical situations, loafing can also be seen when a kitty feels threatened, as the position protects their vital organs.

If a cat is sick or injured, they may also get into a loafing position, but changes in energy levels, appetite, or vocalizations usually accompany this.

If they have never loafed before and suddenly do it, that's when you may want to keep an eye on it.
