There's nothing that ducklings love more than bath time, and this adorable setup by their mom is so sweet.

In a viral video posted to TikTok, a woman shared her bath-time routine for her baby ducks in her kitchen. In the video, the mom set up a large tub in her kitchen and paired it with the cutest duck-shaped rug. She then filled the tub with water before she brought out six yellow ducklings, who immensely enjoyed their time in the water.

Eventually, she helped them out one by one and gave them a quick dry. However, the last duckling enjoyed the bath so much that they refused to get out of the water and would slightly speed up when she tried to scoop them out. Eventually, she scooped them up and showed them to the camera.

The video went extremely viral, garnering over eight million views and seven million likes. People in the comments loved the cute moment and joked how they initially thought "she was gonna take a bath," and not the ducks.

Some questioned why the pool she provided was so deep, and one user pointed out that "ducks like to dive."

One user jokingly asked to join in on the bath and shared a photo of themselves in a yellow duck costume to easily blend in.

Why Ducklings Love Baths So Much

While it's definitely adorable to watch ducklings play in the water together, baths are an important part of their daily routine.

According to the Kitchen's Garden blog, ducks like to preen, or groom themselves, especially after a bath. Preening is an essential part of their behavior because it helps redistribute the oils through the feathers, providing them with waterproofing.

The Ducks of Providence blog also revealed that "Preening keeps feathers waterproof, aligned, and free from dirt or parasites" and "it also allows ducks to spread protective oils from a small gland near the base of the tail, which helps them stay buoyant in water and insulated against changing weather."

Preening is essential for ducks, and it's important to provide pets with everything they need to properly groom themselves. If they don't maintain their feathers, they lose their "protective function" and "can lead to problems such as wet feathers and even serious health issues."
