Turkey Trot funds make a difference
Haywood Pathways Center recently received a $4,000 donation from the Waynesville Sunrise Rotary Club and Sunrise Rotary Foundation.
A check was presented by Rotarian Lane Perry, organizer of the annual Turkey Trot held on Thanksgiving. These funds will be used to upgrade the doors (frames, locks, door, etc.) to both the men and women's spaces at Haywood Pathways.
The donation represents a portion of the proceeds from the 5th annual Thanksgiving Day race, known for its memorable motto: "First the huffin', then the stuffin'."
The Turkey Trot has grown steadily over the years, attracting more than 600 participants and strong support from local sponsors.
In 2026, the race is projected to have 800 runners, and registration opens in mid-July
Proceeds from the 2025 event were shared among several community focused initiatives including Haywood Pathways Center, Uncomplicated Kitchen, Kare House, and local scholarship initiatives, helping support important community needs throughout Haywood County.
