Jelly Roll Opens Up About Infidelity: ‘One of the Worst Moments of My Adulthood'
Eight months before news broke that Jelly Roll had filed for divorce from Bunnie Xo, the country star opened up about his previous affairs during his nearly ten-year marriage to the podcaster.
Yesterday, TMZ reported that the 41-year-old, whose real name is Jason Bradley DeFord, had filed for divorce in May in Tennessee, described as a "mutual decision" between the two parties.
Speaking on the October 21 episode of the Human Schoolpodcast last year, the "Bloodline" singer opened up about his past infidelity - something he had previously been reluctant to discuss in interviews. "I don't talk about this publicly at all, but one of the worst moments of my adulthood was when I had an affair on my wife," he said on the podcast.
In the interview, Jelly Roll blamed a toxic inner circle for his regretful decisions. "I was hanging around a bunch of people that were cheating on their wives. When I was doing cocaine, I was hanging around a bunch of people that were doing cocaine," the musician explained.
"I used to be proud of long-standing friendships just because they had a number attached to them. Horrible humans. But I would just be proud to say, ‘That dude's been with me 12 years.' S***y human!"
While the singer never specified a timeline for his infidelity, Bunnie previously stated in a TikTok that the couple briefly separated in 2018.
"Who knew that us breaking up in 2018, me moving back to Vegas & you coming to get me back -would have put us on this wild journey called life," she wrote in a TikTok, posted in 2024, celebrating their relationship. "We finally committed to each other & did everything we promised each other the first night in 2016."
Although Jelly Roll has never explicitly stated when he quit drugs and toxic former friends, the star did embark on a health journey, losing over 300lbs and quitting cocaine, although he maintains the "California sober" lifestyle of recreational marijuana and alcohol use.
