AEW Update: Former Champion's Contract Set to Expire Soon
The contract for one of AEW's longest-tenured wrestlers is about to expire.
Many are anxiously waiting to see if another wave of former WWE talents will soon arrive in AEW. The WWE released more than 30 superstars in the weeks following WrestleMania 42 weekend, and their 90-day non-compete clauses will expire in the summer.
While it remains to be seen which ex-WWE talents may wind up in AEW, Tony Khan and company reportedly have some negotiating to do with one of their veteran wrestlers.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t WrestlingInc.com), Bryan Alvarez reported that Jack Perry's AEW contract is set to expire "at any moment". At last word, Perry had not re-signed, though Alvarez expects him to say put.
"Jack Perry is...negotiating a deal" Alvarez reported. "His deal is up, I was told, at any moment. And he had not yet signed as of yesterday. So I presume he will re-sign, but I suppose anything is possible."
The son of the late Luke Perry, Jack Perry arrived in AEW under the ring name "Jungle Boy" in 2019, working with his Jurassic Express tag team partner, Luchasaurus. In 2023, he turned heel and dropped the Jungle Boy ring name, changing it to his real name.
