Netflix Show Returns for Season 4 - Without One of Its Lead Actors
One of Netflix's leading licensed dramas is returning for a new season - with a slightly smaller cast this time.
Sullivan's Crossing, the Canadian series co-produced by CTV and the American CW Network, will return to Netflix U.S. for Season 4 on June 30, a little over a month since the season finale premiered on the CW Channel in North America.
For those who exclusively watch the romantic drama on the streaming giant, they may be surprised to learn that Scott Patterson, who played Harry "Sully" Sullivan in its first three seasons, is absent.
Earlier this year, ahead of the Season 4 premiere in April, Patterson confirmed that he had exited the show for good. The Gilmore Girls legend confirmed that tension with the show's writers had informed his departure.
"I fell in love with Sully and have nothing but fondness for him," Patterson said in a statement shared with Deadline. "The creative differences were becoming untenable and I just sadly realized that the show was not something that I could agree to continue."
Responding to showrunner Roma Roth's statement to US Weekly that Sully will remain overseas, as shown in his move to Ireland in the Season 3 finale, but remain "an important part of the world with the potential to be included in future seasons," Patterson accused the production of putting words in his mouth.
"It's unfortunate that it is now being implied that they moved on from me/Sully when the fact is the complete opposite," Patterson responded in his statement to Deadline. "Those who sadly already have spoken out are also fully aware of this fact, and yet chose to say otherwise."
At the end of his statement, Scott paid tribute to the loyal fans of the series, which is based on the novels by Robyn Carr. "I was not intending to make any statement but the fans of the books and the show deserve to know the truth," the actor continued. "I have always been respectful of those who support this industry by watching and loving these characters we are so dang lucky and blessed to portray and bring to life."
