TikTok creator Hannah C., aka @hanichu8, recently shared her project of adding scalloped trim to her kitchen cabinets-and the result is a kitchen that goes from modern and traditional to whimsical and cottage-like.
How to Do It Yourself
To get started, you want to first get some scalloped or edged trim. This is typically made from wood and can be found online or at your local craft store.
It may be best to first measure your cabinets along the bottom and each piece of trim to know how many you will need to purchase.
Then, take the trim and paint it to match your cabinets, or another color if you prefer. If you have wood cabinets, you could also try staining your scalloped trim to match the wood color, though this may be harder to replicate.

Then, you want to begin by attaching the trim to your cabinets. If you rent or just want a damage-free option, you could use wall putty or another adhesive that can be easily peeled off.
If you want a more permanent solution, you could also superglue them along the bottom of your cabinets. At this step, you may also need to cut or trim some of your scalloped pieces to ensure they fit seamlessly, so make sure to have sharp scissors nearby.
You can also apply this method to other areas, like how this creator also applied the trim to her wine rack.
The Comments
Many in the video's comments cited how much they loved the renter-friendly aspect of the idea.
"I've been a residential property manager for 27 years and I just have to chime in here and say you're a landlord's dream tenant the way you love and care for your apartment ," wrote one commenter.
Others shared that the overall idea was "cute" and "cool."
"You have the coziest home," wrote another commenter. "This looks so adorable on your cabinets and wine rack!! Bravo!"
Whether you're looking to make your rented space more personal, are renovating a home you own, or just want a new project, this DIY kitchen project is easy and customizable for any living situation.
