This Heeler Puppy's First Firefly Sighting Just Became Her Family's New Favorite Summer Memory

Australian Cattle Dogs can be smart, hardworking dogs, and their curiosity begins to develop as soon as they open their eyes. Just ask @millie.muffin.butt and her doting family! This adorable red Heeler puppy discovered fireflies for the first time on June 16, and she can hardly believe her eyes.

It doesn't get much sweeter or nostalgic than watching a Heeler puppy reacting to fireflies for the very first time-take a look!

Millie had only known about fireflies, or lightning bugs, for about thirty seconds before she made it her life's mission to catch one. That's a Heeler for you! She couldn't be more fascinated by the incandescent bugs, whereas other puppies wouldn't notice them at all.

"Stop this is the cutest thing I've ever seen," commented @riverrunfar. "Just so pure and curious, such a sweet little baby."

Isn't she? Watching a puppy learn about the world is such a gift, especially when they're as curious and gentle as this tiny cattle dog. Whether they're discovering a guilty pleasure, like lying on the hallway heating vent, or making a new friend, seeing the world through the eyes of a puppy is oh-so-rewarding.

Australian Cattle Dogs, or Heelers, are high-energy, hardworking dogs who thrive when they have something to do. They make wonderful herding dogs and farm assistants, though young puppies like Millie will still need lots of breaks to rest and grow. For now, she'll be plenty occupied with chasing fireflies and running around the yard!

A bored Australian Cattle Dog is much more likely to misbehave. If they dont have a job to do, they'lll give themselves one! Millie's famly might have their hands full as this sweet puppy grows into her teenage years, but for now, she's still the adorable, innocent baby you see in this video.
