SHANGHAI - China's drug regulator said on Monday that it has approved a CARsgen Therapeutics treatment to stomach cancer.

The injection, also known as satri-cel, was the first CAR T-cell therapy for the treatment of solid tumors that advanced to the new drug application stage worldwide, according to CARsgen's website.

Chimeric antigen receptor T-cell or CAR-T treatments are a type of immunotherapy in which patients' immune cells are engineered to recognise and kill cancer cells.
