54-year-old Greensboro furniture store is closing

Priba Furniture and Interiors is closing after 54 years in Greensboro.

The store is at 210 Stage Coach Trail.

The decision to close the family owned business comes about three months after the death of co-owner Bob Knox on March 6 and his wife, Priscilla, on June 8.

The closing comes after Scott Knox, Bob Knox's son, and Scott's wife, Kim, decided to retire from the retail furniture business.

"The family decided that it was in our best interest after Bob's passing that we retire from retail," Kim Knox said in a statement.

"We have people's furniture on order and will stay open until every piece is delivered; we don't want people to worry about furniture on order.

"Scott and our son, Reid, who runs logistics and sales, remain passionate about furniture and hope to find a new opportunity within the industry."

A closing sale has already started and will run as long as there is inventory with discounts reaching up to 65% on some products as the sale progresses, as well as all existing special orders have been fulfilled.

"Customers with pending orders will continue to receive updates and support throughout the process," the company said.

Scott Knox said that "we have cherished the friendships and strong relationships we have built over the years with our customers, employees and business partners."

"Your loyalty and support have meant more to us than words can express."

Scott Knox said that the family's passion for the furniture industry "remains strong, and they hope to continue being involved in the industry in the future."

For additional information, customers are encouraged to contact the store directly.

Priba said on its Facebook page following Bob Knox's death that "he helped shape what Priba is today through his vision, dedication, and commitment to quality and personal service."

"What began in 1972 as a small family operation out of his home grew into a respected and distinctive part of the Greensboro community."

Priba became known as a furniture store with "true Southern charm," the retailer said.

"We're just the right size: large enough to carry all the major name brands, yet small enough to offer personal service - like delivering that TV console to your home, often the very next day if you're nearby.

"If you see it on our showroom floor, you can take it home quickly. And if it's not quite the right style, fabric, or finish? We'll help you create a custom order tailored to your needs.
