Opening an ice cream shop in late July is practically a public service. Andia’s Homemade Ice Cream looks to offer tasty relief from the heat with its first brick-and-mortar store in the Cary Park Town Center.

Andia’s plans to bring a classic scoop shop atmosphere, but with a roster of contemporary flavors. Think baklava, blueberry cobbler, lemon basil sorbet and salted caramel. Among the 20 flavors will be a rotating vegan option made with coconut milk.

Beyond the cup and the cone, the menu features a doughnut ice cream sundae, where ice cream fills the center of a glazed doughnut, and an ice cream cannoli where the cold stuff takes the place of cream.

Andia and George Xouris started Andia’s Homemade Ice Cream in 2014 as the Freezing Pointe, an ice cream catering business, but changed its name last year, they said, to reflect its small-batch, family-made identity.

The company will continue to offer catering for weddings and corporate events.

Info: The shop will open Thursday, July 27, at 10120 Green Level Church Road, #208 in Cary. andiasicecream.com
