Restaurant Week starts Monday, and you can still get a reservation
Downtown Raleigh Restaurant Week starts Monday and is bigger than it’s ever been. The good news is even though it’s late, most participants still have plenty of prime reservations open.
The eighth annual restaurant week includes a roster of more than 50 downtown eateries, each offering special lunch and dinner menus from Aug. 21-27. With most restaurants offering several courses for a set price, it’s a good time to try restaurants you haven’t made it to yet or new dishes at favorite spots.
Lunch options range from $5 to $10 and dinners are typically three courses for $21 or $31.
The list of restaurants includes a number that have opened in downtown Raleigh in the past year, such as Royale, Trophy Tap + Table, Pizza La Stella and Carroll’s Kitchen.
This year a dollar from each restaurant week dinner will be given to the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina, which says one dollar can provide five meals to someone in need.
There are also afternoon and evening food tours organized by Taste Carolina Gourmet Foods. Think of them like downtown progressive dinners, each offering stops at five different restaurants. Afternoon tours are $55 and are expected to last two hours and 15 minutes and evening tours are $75 and will last three hours. Diners need to be hungry and wear comfortable shoes, because you’ll be walking two or three miles.
The afternoon tours may include stops at Gravy, Garland, Raleigh Provisions, Treat, Manhattan Cafe, Pizza La Stella and Parkside. Evening tours could stop at Gravy, Garland, Raleigh Provisions, Pizza La Stella, Oro, Greenlight, Oak City Meatball, Calavera, Treat and Bittersweet.
