‘Stranger Things 2’ is finally here, and this Raleigh brewery has just the beers for your Netflix binge
We may never know what happened to Barb in Netflix’s popular series “Stranger Things,” but Raleigh’s Big Boss Brewing is offering a lineup of beers to toast her memory.
For the release of “Stranger Things 2,” the sci-fi drama that hit Netflix Friday, Big Boss has brewed four small batch show-themed beers. You can’t drink the rhythmic pulse from a synthesizer, but there’s beer brewed with the mysterious life-giving force of Eggo waffles and other references to the show.
There’s the “11” a Belgian blonde made with Eggo waffles and maple syrup that’s named for the loveable, mind-controlling pre-teen.
“Chief Hopper AKA Coffee & Contemplation” is a hazy New England style IPA brewed with coffee and donuts.
“Winona ‘Rye’der” is an entirely rye malted pale ale.
And the “Demogorgon” is a dark imperial farmhouse style stout dedicated to the one creature no one wants to share a beer with.
There’s a lot of local love in the Triangle for “Stranger Things,” which was created by Durham-born twins Matt and Ross Duffer.
Big Boss head brewer Bobby McInerny said the brewery wanted to throw the party as soon as the Oct. 27 release date was announced.
“Our taproom manager had the idea to make some small-batch beers,” McInerny said. “We have a 10-gallon pilot system so we thought we’d try some crazy stuff.”
The four beers are being tapped at 4:30 p.m. today in Big Boss’ taproom during a special “Stranger Things” viewing party. Big Boss is at 1249-A Wicker Drive, Raleigh.
