Craving a burger and fries? Shake Shack to join PNC Arena restaurant lineup

Shake Shack, a New York City-based restaurant chain with locations across the globe, will soon offer burgers, shakes and fries at PNC Arena in Raleigh.

The venue’s newest restaurant will join the Shake Shack at Waverly Place in Cary as one of at least two in the Triangle.

The arena, home to the Carolina Hurricanes and N.C. State basketball as well as other sporting events, concerts and more, said in a tweet Sunday that the restaurant would open soon, but did not specify a timeline.

The news comes as Shake Shack was already exploring another Triangle site.

The burger chain is eyeing a storefront in Chapel Hill at Eastgate Crossing at 1800 E. Franklin St., The News & Observer reported earlier this month.

The restaurant is interested in renovating a vacant, 3,000-square-foot outbuilding formerly occupied by Zoes Kitchen, which closed in 2019, according to The N&O.

A project developer with the realty group that owns the location has asked the Chapel Hill Community Design Commission to approve a series of changes to the building’s exterior and parking lot, The N&O reported.
