The Bull City’s newest brewery expands with a new downtown Durham taproom
One of Durham’s newest and smallest breweries is set to expand with a second location later this year.
Flying Bull Beer Company announced this week that it will open a new taproom in downtown Durham in the so-called Innovation District. The new taproom is slated to open by the end of 2023.
Flying Bull opened in early 2022 as a tiny nanobrewery on Durham’s Ninth Street. Owned by Joel Miles and Anna Bloch, the brewery and taproom features around a dozen draft lines, including space for a sampling of a few guest beers from other North Carolina breweries.
The spot on Ninth Street is a cozy hideout and biergarten for Durham beer fans, but plans for the second location are much larger.
The new taproom will be more than 5,500 square feet and include more production brewing space, a new cocktail bar and a kitchen.
Neighbors in the Durham Innovation District
Flying Bull’s neighbors in the Durham Innovation District include a cafe from 321 Coffee, offices for Google and Durham Clinical Research Institute.
“We are super excited for this opportunity to ‘spread our wings’ into the Durham Innovation District. What we love about this new space is that it will allow us to introduce craft cocktails and food created with the same passion we put into our craft beer,” said Flying Bull Beer Company owners Joel Miles and Anna Bloch.
“The brewery world is all about collaborations and we can’t think of a better fit than the Flying Bull Beer Company and Durham ID.”
