A popular name in the Triangle brewing scene plans to close its Raleigh location.

Clouds Brewing, one of the Triangle’s first brewers to have locations in both Raleigh and Durham, plans to close its Raleigh taproom this spring. The brewery announced on its social media accounts that Sunday, April 7, will be its last day of service at 126 N. West St. in Raleigh.

“It is with a heavy heart that we close this chapter of Clouds,” the brewery posted on its Instagram page. “We have come to the end of our lease and, due to many factors (several beyond our control), we’ve decided to move on to our next great adventure. While we can’t share any details with you quite yet, we can assure you: this isn’t the end of Clouds Raleigh. Our last day at this location will be April 7 — we hope we can see you between now and then.”

The Raleigh Clouds debuted in 2014 as the brand’s first location, opening across from 42nd Street Oyster Bar in the city’s Glenwood South district. Clouds found success as a classic brewpub, serving a full menu alongside its own proprietary beers and a wide selection of other craft brews.

Clouds grew to include a Durham brewery and restaurant and a Raleigh taproom. Those locations will remain open.

In its statement, Clouds said a new Raleigh location is in the works as it says goodbye to its original location after a decade.

“If this building could talk, it would tell stories of Christmas parties, bar crawl afternoons, baby showers, Drag Brunches, NCSU celebrations, non-profit events, corporate parties, several engagements, a few weddings, and even one five-alarm fire,” Clouds posted on Instagram.

“If you ask our regulars, you’ll hear stories of connection, laughter, and countless memories. If you ask any employee, they’ll tell you how it feels to walk into Clouds every day and be treated like family. If you ask the managers and owners, they’ll be grateful to have worked beside the 100s of team members who have come and gone over these 10 years, celebrating not only Clouds accomplishments but those in their personal lives — from graduations to new babies.”
