If you’re feeling under the influence of the deep fryer festival known as the North Carolina State Fair, the timing couldn’t be better for Raleigh’s first location of one of the country’s most popular healthy-eating restaurants.

Fast casual salad brand Sweetgreen will hold the grand opening for its new North Hills restaurant on Tuesday, Oct. 29.

“We’re thrilled by the community’s excitement for Sweetgreen’s first Raleigh location,” said Jonathan Neman, co-founder and CEO of Sweetgreen, in a news release. “Raleigh’s connection to local farming really aligns with our commitment to fresh, sustainable ingredients. We’re looking forward to being part of a city that values quality and supports local growers.”

Sweetgreen launched in 2007 in the glitzy Washington, DC neighborhood of Georgetown, opening in a small cottage on M Street. Now based in Los Angeles, the brand was among the first to make flavorful, healthy options as accessible as fast food.

This is the second Sweetgreen in North Carolina, following the first recently opened location in Charlotte. There are currently more than 200 locations nationwide.

The Raleigh Sweetgreen has seating for 38 in its dining room and space for another 10 on its outdoor patio.

Sweetgreen menu

The brand’s menu focuses on salads and grain bowls and is built around several classic creations and seasonal offerings.

Raleigh’s Sweetgreen will open with fall flavors like maple-glazed Brussels sprouts and roasted sweet potatoes. Other options include miso-glazed salmon, hot honey chicken, and a steakhouse chopped salad. Bowls and salads range in price from $12 to $16.

As it moves into the Triangle, Sweetgreen is sourcing some of its ingredients from North Carolina farms, like Watkins farm out of Rolesville.

“As a third-generation farmer and one of the youngest certified organic farmers in North Carolina, my family’s commitment goes beyond just growing organic produce — we’re focused on promoting health in our communities. Building trust with partners is essential, and Sweetgreen aligns perfectly with our mission of sustainability and providing the freshest food possible,” says Randall Watkins, owner of Watkins Farm in a release. “We’re proud to work with a brand that’s paving the way for the next generation of farmers to thrive.”

The new Raleigh Sweetgreen will be open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and until 8 p.m. on Sundays. A grand opening event Tuesday, Oct. 29 will include live music, ice cream from Raleigh’s Two Roosters, cheese samples from Chapel Hill creamery and coffee from Camino Coffee Cart.
