2024’s biggest restaurant opening is finally here. Crawford Bros. Steakhouse set to debut
Where there’s smoke, there’s sizzle — and now, there’s an opening date for one of the year’s most-anticipated restaurants.
After nearly six years of waiting, acclaimed Raleigh chef Scott Crawford is set to unveil Crawford Brothers Steakhouse the week of Dec. 16. As exquisite as it is sprawling, the new steakhouse joins Cary’s Fenton development as the upscale shopping center’s restaurant anchor.
At 4,500 square feet, Crawford Brothers is the largest restaurant yet in the Crawford Hospitality group, which includes Brodeto, Jolie, cocktail bar Sous Terre and flagship Crawford & Son.
The new steakhouse is the capstone on a busy year for Crawford, in which he’s opened three restaurants and a cocktail bar.
What’s on the Crawford Brothers Steakhouse menu?
On the opening menu expect opulence, elegance and lots and lots of grilled meats.
Small and chilled bites include raw oysters, caviar with housemade potato chips, the steakhouse staple shrimp cocktail and a seafood tower. Appetizers include duck meatballs, poached king crab and steak tartare. Other steakhouse musts include Crawford’s take on the wedge and Caesar salads.
As for the steaks, Crawford brothers plans four traditional cuts: a pound NY Strip, a small and large filet, a ribeye and a two-pound porterhouse. The steakhouse will also feature a section of prized Wagyu beef, roasted lamb and a veal tomahawk chop.
There are more than a dozen different sauces and accouterments diners can add to their steaks, from white truffle butter to bearnaise sauce to king crab Oscar.
Sides feature even more indulgent familiarity, like twice baked potatoes with smoked cheddar and chives, creamed spinach, truffle mac and cheese with optional lobster and sweet potato souffle with maple goat butter.
For the sweets, looked for the Triangle’s latest Baked Alaska, a lemon meringue cheesecake, a chocolate cake and a frozen custard sundae.
‘A classic dining experience’
Crawford Brothers was first announced before the pandemic, in the summer of 2019. At the time, Crawford envisioned the new steakhouse as the setting to match life’s big moments.
“I’ve always wanted to do an awesome steakhouse, and I think we will,” Crawford said in an interview in 2019. “It’s a classic dining experience and, done correctly, it’s incredibly fun. It’s very nostalgic for a lot of people, very warm, very inviting. We saw a need in our market for an independent steakhouse, especially in that location.”
The new steakhouse will have seating for 120 people in a main dining room, two private spaces and a bar. Raleigh’s Mauer Architecture firm handled the restaurant’s design, wrapping it in large glass windows with polished wood walls.
Reservations are expected to open soon.
