Raleigh chef Ashley Christensen is partnering with big names on a new project
Raleigh chef Ashley Christensen is involved in a new partnership with a leading beverage company.
The Poole’s Diner founder, along with fellow chefs Chris Cosentino (winner of “Top Chef Masters”), Momofuku founder David Chang, Sarah Grueneberg (James Beard winner and founder of Chicago’s Monteverde restaurant) and Chris Shepherd, collaborated with Athletic Brewing Co. on a limited-edition release called Aftershift.
Known for its non-alcoholic beverages, Athletic Brewing Co. has partnered with the chefs on the new brew to mark Mental Health Awareness Month.
Aftershift is a light-bodied drink, with notes of lime leaf and yuzu. Here’s how the drink is described: “Made for those who work hard and want to unwind without the buzz, Aftershift strikes a delicate balance of slight tartness and subtle bitterness — a true chef’s kiss of flavor and the perfect reward after a long day.”
“We’re incredibly excited to introduce Aftershift in collaboration with these five legendary chefs,” John Walker, a co-founder and COO of Athletic Brewing, said in a news release. “Their culinary expertise has shaped this brew into something truly unique and delicious. We’re honored to collaborate with them while simultaneously supporting food service industry workers across the country.”
Athletic Brewing will donate $50,000 of Aftershift’s profits to the Southern Smoke Foundation, founded by Houston-based chef Chris Shepherd. The nonprofit provides mental health support for food and beverage workers across the country.
Christensen, a James Beard-winning chef, is known for her restaurants and bars in Raleigh, including Poole’s Diner, Death & Taxes and Beasley’s Chicken + Honey.
