An Avengers-level culinary collaboration is in the works, as an all-star group of Raleigh restaurant owners are teaming up for a new project.

The longtime restaurant space at 1000 Brookside Drive will soon be home to a new restaurant from Ajja owners Cheetie Kumar and Paul Siler, Ex Voto owners Angela Salamanca and Marshall Davis and Locals Seafood partner Justin Pasfield.

The group signed a lease this week to take over the prominent but ill-fated restaurant building.

That building at has seen a revolving door of promising restaurant projects over the last decade, most recently Otomi Comida y Cocteles. Before that it was Brookside Bodega, Falafel & Co. and Brookside Market & Pizza.

For now the new project is unnamed and the owners declined to share details on the concept.

In a released statement, the owners said they will bring multiple concepts to the building, aiming for family-friendly vibes in an effort to appeal to the surrounding neighborhoods.

In a similar high profile collab, the owners of Ex Voto and Locals recently opened Mala Pata and its Peyote cocktail bar this month in Gateway Plaza.

The addition of Kumar and Siler ups the ambitions even higher, with the couple garnering James Beard attention for their former beloved restaurant Garland. Their current restaurant Ajja was named a “Best New Restaurant” by Esquire magazine in 2023.

The new project is currently in the permitting phase, according to city records, with renovations expected to take place this year.

The owners promise more details in the coming months.
