Serratore’s Pasta & Pizza is now serving the pro-carbohydrate dinner crowd. It’s housed in the old Radius Pizzeria & Pub space at 112 Churton St.
Chef Josh DeCarolis, who’s behind the authentic trattoria Mothers & Sons, has partnered with chef Phil Bey and general manager Pietro Costanza to open Serratore’s.
And while the team behind the new restaurant is familiar, Serratore’s isn’t a Mothers & Sons copy — though Serratore does happen to be the maiden name of DeCarolis’ mother.
Serratore’s menu
The menu leans heavily on pastas and favors the Italian-American dishes DeCarolis ate growing up in Connecticut — classics including shrimp scampi and spaghetti with pork rib sugo.
With a wood and gas-burning oven, Serratore’s is also offering Neapolitan-style pizzas, which DeCarolis previously described to The News & Observer as “juicy.” There will be around a half-dozen options every night, plus a create-your-own.
Diners can also order thin, fried veal and chicken cutlets, served over linguine.
Wash all that down with beer on tap, draft prosecco and spritzer, wine or a frozen Campari and lime.
Brunch and lunch service is expected to be added later. For now, dinner is served 4-9 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4-10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 4-8 p.m. Sundays.
