The call came in a few minutes before closing.
Would the Durham shop employees be willing to stick around for just a little bit? The Jonas Brothers wanted to stop by for a coffee before their Raleigh concert. They had heard Omie’s Coffee Shop and Roastery made a great cup of joe.
At first, the coffee shop staffer who took the call thought she was being pranked, owner Addison Yarbrough told The News & Observer in a phone interview.
But the caller made a convincing pitch. And sure enough, a few minutes past the scheduled Omie’s closing time, in walked Joe and Kevin Jonas, along with one of the concert openers, Deleasa, and a manager, Yarbrough said.
The Jonas Brothers, who are on their “Jonas20: Greetings From Your Hometown” tour, have a habit of visiting local coffee shops before shows. The band includes Kevin, Joe and their brother Nick, 33.
Yarbrough said she doesn’t know how the Jonas Brothers found out about her shop. It might have something to do with the “moment” the shop is having on TikTok, she said. The shop has recently been visited by several influencers who review the business in videos watched by tens of thousands.
While Yarbrough wasn’t at the shop when the brothers visited, the band did give her two tickets to the show. She took her sister, a fellow longtime listener of the Jonas Brothers, to the Lenovo Center for the concert.
“It was sort of a whirlwind,” Yarbrough said. “It was a really fun day.”
Jonas Brothers coffee order
Not all of us can be stars. But we can order like them.
Kevin Jonas, 37, ordered a brown butter pumpkin pie latte — made with brown butter caramel pumpkin pie sauce, espresso and milk, Yarbrough said.
Joe Jonas, 36, selected a pumpkin cortado.
Deleasa and the manager ordered cappuccinos.
They enjoyed their drinks so much that they asked if Omie’s could bring its coffee cart to the concert venue to provide refreshments for the crew, but there wasn’t enough time to make the necessary arrangements.
Where to see the Jonas Brothers
Triangle residents may have missed their chance to see the Jonas Brothers, but the band will return to North Carolina next month. A concert at Charlotte’s Spectrum Center is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 5.
The youngest Jonas brother, Franklin Jonas, used to live in Charlotte and is one of the concert openers during the tour, which shares a name with the band’s latest album, “Greetings From Your Hometown.” The All-American Rejects is also slated to appear with the Jonas Brothers at the Charlotte concert.
