An Asian fusion restaurant is opening a new location at a Raleigh shopping center.
Lucky Asian Fusion, which has signed a lease for a 3,341-square-foot space at Ridgewood Shopping Center, has an existing location in Richmond, Virginia. The Raleigh location would be the brand’s first location outside of the state.
It is operated by Eat Restaurant Partners, the group behind Wong’s Tacos, the fusion taqueria that opened this year near Crabtree Valley Mall, along with concepts such as Wild Ginger and Osaka Sushi & Steak, both in Virginia.
Lucky Asian Fusion and Eat Restaurant Partners did not immediately respond to The News & Observer’s request for more information.
Ridgewood, located off Wade Avenue, is anchored by Whole Foods Market and also houses food and drink concepts Drift, Taco Bamba, Jersey Mike’s, Snooker’s Bar and Billiards and Bobapop Tea Bar, in addition to Ridgewood Wine and Beer.
Drift’s location at Ridgewood is its first in Raleigh and the Triangle, though the coastal coffee shop chain continues to expand throughout the area. Taco Bamba also made its North Carolina debut at Ridgewood.
In addition to welcoming a new tenant, Ridgewood Shopping Center has been undergoing physical changes.
Construction is still underway to build a space for Lucky Asian Fusion, which will be next to Ridgewood Wine and Beer facing Ridge Road. But work at the shopping center has continued for months. Visitors may notice that the exterior facade has been upgraded, and new signs have been installed atop several businesses.
Lucky Asian Fusion menu
Offering bento boxes ($23-$27), tempura ($17-$22), poke bowls ($16) and sushi, Lucky Asian Fusion describes itself as “combining transitional elements of Asian fusion dishes with elevated flavors and striking creativity.”
The restaurant boasts an expansive list of traditional rolls including spicy tuna ($8) and rainbow ($14).
Many of the signature rolls on the menu are named for superheroes and villains, including Batman — made with spicy tuna and avocado topped with tempura kani ($16) — and Wonder Woman, made with tuna, mango, cilantro and rice and wrapped in avocado, shrimp and jalapeno sauce ($18).
The restaurant’s Richmond location also features a bar, offering beer, wine and cocktails ($10-$16) such as the New Fashioned, made with Suntory Toki Japanese whisky, orange syrup and Peychaud’s bitters.
