A wide range of dining concepts have opened in the Triangle recently.

Ranging from an Italian-inspired craft cocktail bar to a second location of a popular Indian place, the new restaurants are already serving diners in Raleigh, Durham and beyond.

Here are a few recent openings to know about.

Capulet Cocktail Club

Paintings of Italian landscapes hang above Italian sofas and barrel chairs made with textural velvet fabrics at Capulet Cocktail Club. Tucked into the corners of the room are “confessional booths,” which can be closed off with curtains and feature screens embedded in circular cutouts in the wall.

A new Italian-inspired cocktail bar opened this week at The Exchange, a Dewitt Carolinas development near Raleigh’s North Hills.

Capulet Cocktail Club is from Patrick Shanahan, co-owner of the restaurant Peregrine, and Robby Opperman, a fellow filmmaker who helped build both Peregrine and the cocktail bar.

Beverage director Zack Thomas developed the menu, which includes classic cocktails like the Negroni along with house specials created just for Capulet.

Whataburger (not the North Carolina-based What-A-Burger) hasn’t arrived to the Triangle yet, but it’s getting closer.

The Texas-based chain just opened a new location in Mebane, in Alamance County, and The News & Observer took a trip out there to sample the menu.

The first Whataburger restaurants in the Triangle should open in 2026.
