However, the restaurant said they “hope to reopen one day with a new concept.”

Downtown Raleigh Mediterranean spot closes
Shish Kabob, the Mediterranean restaurant housed in a glass-enclosed building at downtown Raleigh’s City Plaza, has closed. It was one of the first tenants when City Plaza opened in 2009.
Shish Kebab co-owned by Sam Yehia, who also owned Sam & Wally’s.
A new restaurant, Pita Bowl, will take its place on Fayetteville Street, serving build-your-own bowls and sandwiches. A soft opening is scheduled for mid-February.
This will be the third Pita Bowl, joining locations on Leesville Road and Blue Ridge Road. The Leesville Road Pita Bowl was formerly a Shish Kabob.

A Charlotte-based barbecue restaurant chain has closed its Triangle location.
Mac’s Speed Shop, located on Glenwood Avenue in the Five Points neighborhood in Raleigh, opened in 2024 in a former Lonerider Brewing taproom.
The restaurant shared news of its closure in a sign posted to the front door.
“This decision was made after careful consideration of various factors affecting our operations,” the sign said. “We want to express our heartfelt thanks to our patrons, staff and the community for their incredible support over the years.”
