Fall Harvest Table Arrangement

Decorate your Thanksgiving tables with a beautiful fall harvest arrangement. Beth will demonstrate how to fashion a vase from pumpkins or other gourds and fill it with the colors of autumn in flowers, foliage, berries and pods for a table centerpiece. Each participant will then select gourds to create their own centerpieces to take home. Please bring a pair of hand pruners and any embellishments you would like to include. 3 p.m.-5 p.m. Nov. 21. Art Around the Garden

Art Around the PLOW show and sale inside at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church.All of our eight artists work in different mediums, from stitching to pottery to painting. All proceeds from her sales will GO to Haitian Relief. Organic Farmer Norma DeCamp Burns will have her fall herbs and produce to show and sell. Sales of Vintage jewelry and herbal oils and vinegars coming from our own garden will benefit NC Flood Relief efforts across eastern North Carolina. Carolina Artisan Craft Market

Meet the artists and buy fine craft handmade by more than 100 artists from across North Carolina and the U.S. Discover pottery, jewelry, sculpture, glass, wood, fiber arts (decorative, functional and wearable), furniture, mixed media, printmaking and photography. 6-9 p.m. Nov. 12-13. $10-$15. N.C. State University Grounds and Building Services Open House

This fun, free event is open to the public and kids of all ages. Check out N.C. State’s cool tools (like our electric cars and mowers), our big trucks and our technology . Learn more about composting and building renovations, sustainable gardens, and job/volunteer opportunities. Enjoy a big wheel safety town, prizes and t-shirt giveaways, and live music from our very own facilitators! A free N.C, State brick will also be given out to each person (while supplies last). Food Trucks will also be onsite, including Captain Poncho’s Tacos, Chirba Chirba Dumpling, CJ’s Street Food, and King’s Authentic Philly Cheesesteaks. This is a rain or shine event. World of Soils Class

With the increasing interest in soil care as a means of avoiding plant stress and subsequent pest problems, the demand for this class has risen each season. The interactive lecture will cover nutrient balance, soil test reports, how to incorporate organics, taking care of microbes, and an array of misconceptions regarding planting techniques. Climate change predictions are now becoming possible at community, or local scales. But how do we address and adapt to these?
