Favorite Things: A kitchen cupboard filled with sweet memories
This cabinet with an enamel shelf was in my grandmother’s kitchen from the 1920s. Many memories have been made using this cabinet to prepare everyday and festive holiday meals. I remember the laughter, the secrets shared and the tears shed while decorating Christmas sugar cookies, rolling out dumplings and mixing pound cakes for family or friends in need of solace. I find myself longing once again to be with my apron-clad mother and grandmother with their flour-dusted faces at this kitchen cabinet with aromas of sugar and spice drifting through the whole house.
