More wreath workshops, poinsettia events
Last week, we shared information about the Dec. 1 holiday wreath workshops and Dec. 3 poinsettia talk at the JC Raulston Arboretum. Here are a few more similar events:
▪ Sarah P. Duke Gardens in Durham is hosting two sessions of a holiday greenery class on Dec. 5. The classes are 10 a.m.-noon and 2-4 p.m. Cost: $55-$65. Pre-registration required: 919-668-1707, Gardenseducation@duke.edu. The gardens are at 420 Anderson St. More information: gardens.duke.edu.
▪ JC Raulston Arboretum is hosting a poinsettia open house with more than 100 kinds of poinsettias on display from 1-5 p.m. Dec. 6. The arboretum is at 4415 Beryl Road, Raleigh. Info: jcra.ncsu.edu.

▪ The N.C. State University Horticultural Science Graduate Student Association will be selling poinsettias at the JC Raulston Arboretum’s field labs, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Dec. 10 -11 and 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Dec. 12. Cash or check only. The arboretum is at 4415 Beryl Road, Raleigh. Info: jcra.ncsu.edu.
▪ Cary’s Garden Supply Co. is offering three classes: Learn how to make a live wreath at 6 p.m. Dec. 3 and 3 p.m. Dec. 6, and learn how to make a live centerpiece at 3 p.m. Dec. 13. Chatham County artists’ studio tour
The Chatham Artists Guild is hosting the 23rd Annual Chatham County Studio Tour the first two weekends in December.
The tour features 60 artists at 43 studios across Chatham County. This free, self-guided tour offers the public a chance to meet well-known artists. Perfect for holiday shopping: artwork will be available for purchase.
The event hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Dec. 5 and 12, and noon-5 p.m. Dec. 6 and 13. An opening reception will be 7-9 p.m. Dec. 4 at Chatham Mills, 480 Hillsborough St., Pittsboro.
‘Weekend Gardener’ at State Farmers Market
From 8-11 a.m. Dec. 5, the hosts of WPTF’s “Weekend Gardener Show,” a popular gardening radio show, will broadcast live from the State Farmers Market in Raleigh.

On the same day, the market will be holding its annual Market Shoppes open house: a chance for shoppers to sample products from dozens of vendors in the Market Shoppes building and find gifts for friends and family. Vendors will be selling local cheeses, jams, jellies, wines, cakes, candles, decorative flags and ornaments.
The market is at 1201 Agriculture St., Raleigh.
