Celebrate Scrap Exchange’s 25 years with DIY Fest on April 16
DIY Fest in Durham
Durham’s The Scrap Exchange is celebrating 25 years with a DIY fest on April 16.
From 11 a.m.-5 p.m. the free event will include artists’ booths, live demonstrations, live music and food trucks. It is intended for adults and children to help celebrate Durham’s creative reuse center.
“We are excited about this opportunity to celebrate Durham’s innovative DIY-spirit,” said Scrap Exchange executive director Ann May Woodward in a news release. Woodward will be on hand to discuss The Scrap Exchange’s vision for the redevelopment of the north end of the Lakewood Shopping Center.
The event will be at 2050 Lakewood Ave., Durham.

Granville Gardeners’ annual herb sale
The Granville Gardeners are hosting their second annual herb sale from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. April 9.
The event will include the herb sale, where experienced gardeners will be available to answer questions about herbs.
The event will be at the Granville County Expo and Convention Center, 4184 U.S. 15 South, Oxford.
The garden club meets on the fourth Monday of each month (except May, July and December) at the convention center in Oxford. The public is welcome; after attending two meetings free, people are asked to either join the club for a $25 annual fee or pay $5 per meeting.

Reminder: 2 great events this weekend
Both the N.C. Museum of Art’s Art in Bloom event and the annual azalea garden tour in Wilmington are this weekend.
Here are details:
▪ April 7-10, Art in Bloom features 56 floral masterpieces inspired by the museum’s permanent collection and created by floral designers. The event costs $15; $10 for museum members and free for children ages 6 and under. The museum is at 2110 Blue Ridge Road, Raleigh. For tickets and information: ncartmuseum.org.
▪ The 63rd annual Cape Fear Garden Club Azalea Garden Tour is April 8-10 in Wilmington. A dozen locations are on the tour, including private homes, gardens at UNC-Wilmington, and the Airlie Gardens, a 67-acre public garden. Tickets cost $25 (free for children under 12 with paid adult) and are good for all three days. The gardens will be open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. each day of the tour.
