Big Ideas for Little Gardens

From plant selection, to landscape design, to installation, learn about how to garden in small spaces. Honey Beehive Tour

Come learn about one of the world’s most fascinating insects. Bees are responsible for pollinating one-third of the world’s food and produce one of the sweetest treats around. Local Deciduous Trees

This course is perfect for those just beginning their study of trees, or for recent transplants to the N.C. Piedmont who want to identify the common deciduous trees in their backyard gardens and neighborhoods. Students spend time outdoors, walking in the garden or on the Piedmont nature trails, learning common trees and how to identify them and understanding why they grow where they do. 1:30-4:30 p.m. April 16. $65; $55 members. Free Shredding & Electronics Recycling Event

This event features free document shredding and identity protection tips, as well as electric/electronics recycling, and secure destruction of computers and hard-drives. Plants in Your Pizza: Family Workshop

Head to the vegetable garden for a pizza planting party, where you’ll learn how to add all the ingredients – herbs, tomatoes, and peppers – to grow a pizza garden, and take home some delicious plants to add to your backyard. Annual Home Roam Tour

The Junior League of Durham and Orange Counties invite the public to join the 8th annual Home Roam Tour. This year’s tour will focus on Modernist architecture and design. Discover Durham’s rich architectural history during this self-guided tour through six Modernist homes in the featured neighborhood, Duke Forest. I Need a Plan: Create a Pollinator Garden

Build a pollinator haven in your garden! Discover the pollinators native to our region and then create a plant list that includes everything needed by them, from food to shelter. Plant Propagation: Dividing a Plant

Join this class to see a variety of plants divided to form multiple plants and learn how to assess a plant for division. In the propagation series, you’ll learn to grow your own plants using two very simple techniques: dividing and cuttings. Classes include time in the Gardens discussing and collecting to propagate specific plants, and time in the greenhouse practicing your skills.
