Win a copy of mobster-turned-rescuer memoir, ‘Dogfella’

James Guiliani was a drug-addicted ex-con on the verge of suicide when he discovered an abused and discarded Shih Tzu – and it changed his life. Guiliani’s love for Bruno compelled him to leave his life as a mob enforcer and start rescuing animals. He has saved pit bulls from a dog-fighting ring and drove through six-foot snow drifts to reach 200 cats stranded at a Long Island sanctuary.

In his 2015 memoir, “Dogfella” (Da Capo, $24.99), Guiliani relates how he and his wife have saved countless animals from abuse and neglect, and even opened a rescue shelter in Brooklyn.

To win a copy of “Dogfella,” send an email to giveaway@newsobserver.com by midnight Tuesday (Feb. 16) and include your mailing address. Please put “Dogfella” in the subject line to be included in the random drawing. Only the winner is notified.
