Anyone who loves dogs – heck, anyone who vaguely likes dogs – will adore Pete Thorne’s “Old Faithful: Dogs of a Certain Age” (Harper, $19.99), a beautifully photographed collection featuring 75 senior dogs alongside stories of each dog and its owner.

Thorne says he was inspired to do the book after photographing his grandmother’s hundredth birthday party, and that he was seeking to capture the complex and heartening stories behind the faces of aging dogs. The book is really stunning.
