Watch a baseball game while helping Durham’s food pantries
The Catholic Diocese of Raleigh is taking a swing at hunger with a fundraiser at a Durham Bulls baseball game.
Catholic Charities is partnering with the Inter-faith Food Shuttle to host “Pitch In for Charity” on Sunday, June 25, at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The game starts at 5:05 p.m.
For every $10 ticket purchased through the Catholic Charities website, $5 will be redirected to food pantry services in the Durham area.
More than 500 tickets were sold through the website last year, which was the event’s inaugural year.
Tickets are available online at www.CatholicCharitiesRaleigh.org/PitchInForCharity and must be purchased by June 18.
Programs for women
White Plains United Methodist Church has two upcoming events for women.
Sisters in Support, a breast cancer support group for those who are survivors of breast cancer or are currently in treatment, meets the second Tuesday of each month from 7 to 8:30 p.m. For more information, email Lee Heathcoat at lee@wpumc.com.
The Ladies Fellowship Brunch will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 17. Lynda Everett will talk about “Table Grace.” The cost of the catered lunch is $10 per person. Registration is due by June 11.

Serve Week
Members of Crossroads Fellowship in Raleigh and Wake Forest wants to spread kindness throughout their communities during Serve Week 2017.
From June 17-24, church members will volunteer for service opportunities with partner charities. Projects include: Hope Reins, an organization that provides healing and therapy for at-risk children through a program with horses; the Green Chair Project, a nonprofit that provides families with inexpensive furniture; and Alliance Community Garden, which was built with the help of the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle to benefit patients of the Alliance Medical Ministry and their community partners.

Crossroads has a campus on Hillbrook Road in Raleigh and a second campus on Keith Store Road in Wake Forest.
5K walk
St. Mary Coptic Orthodox Church in Raleigh will host a 5K Walk and Family Fun Day on Saturday, June 17.
The race will begin at 8 a.m. at the WakeMed Soccer Park cross country course. All of the proceeds from the event will go toward construction of a new multipurpose building on the St. Mary campus.
