Arthur Jack Gordon
Bigger than life, Jack Gordon made his footprint on all of us. He left this earthly place to go home and begin his new life with his Lord and Savior.
Arthur "Jack " Gordon was born March 21, 1942 to Mary Louise Fortanbary of Gaffney S.C. and Andrew J. Gordon of Savannah Georgia. He was raised by his mother alone until 1961, when she married Harold O. Smith. All have preceded in death.
Jack married his high school sweetheart, Billie Askew Gordon, in 1962. They were blessed with two wonderful children: Arthur Richard "Rick" and Dana Gordon King. Rick married Lisa Nance and they blessed them with two beautiful grandchildren: Ashley Gordon (soon to be wed to Jeremy Lewis) and Justin Gordon. Dana married Patrick J. King and they blessed them with two head-strong grandchildren: Alexander and Samantha.
Jack graduated in 1961 from Harding High School, in Charlotte, N.C. He was schooled in the Ditch Witch sales and service business by Charlie Long until 1970. He went on to join Ditch Witch of N.C. on June 1, 1971. He worked extra hard to be the best to prove that with only a high school education, you can succeed in life. Jack received the prestigious Lowell Highfill Award for being Top Salesman Worldwide for 12 years in a row. Ditch Witch changed the #1 spot to the "Jack Gordon". Now there are Ditch Witch salesmen worldwide taking on the challenge of his legacy.
He was a loving, generous husband, father and adored grandfather. Jack's family motto: "A family that plays together, stays together!" Well, they worked together too.
We will be honoring him and his life, June 12, 2015, 3pm at Longview Baptist Church in Raleigh. Those of you who would like to share your memories of Jack, please feel free to join us at the service.
