Jay R. McIntosh

Jay Roger McIntosh, 60, of Greensboro passed away Friday, June 26, 2015, at Duke University Hospital.

Jay is survived by his daughter, Hilary McIntosh, of Raleigh, and her mother, Christine Frasca, of Chapel Hill. Funeral and burial services will be held at 2 p.m. June 29 at Pine Forest Memorial Garden in Wake Forest. A memorial gathering will be held in for friends and family in Greensboro, NC at a later date.

A native of Portland, Ore., Jay developed a love of the outdoors. He was an avid hiker and runner. Jay received a degree in technical journalism from Oregon State University. He later completed a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He was the longtime news editor at Furniture Today magazine in Greensboro. Earlier in his career, as a new reporter, while working for The Daily News in Longview, Wash., he was part of a news team awarded the Pulitzer Prize for coverage of the Mt. St. Helens volcano eruption in 1981.
