Snodie Bond Wilson
Mr. Snodie Bond Wilson, 81, died Monday, July 27, 2015.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Kenansville, NC. Burial will be in Devotional Gardens in Warsaw, NC with Masonic Rites.
Mr. Wilson, a native of Pitt County, had been a resident of Duplin County since 1960. A graduate of Ayden High School, he received his B.S. degree in Poultry Science and a Masters degree in Adult Education from North Carolina State University. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean era.
Mr. Wilson was employed for 30 years with the NC Cooperative Extension Service, retiring in 1988. He managed the family farm for many years and in Pitt County was owner of Wilson’s Christmas Tree Farm on County Home Rd. He served as secretary of St. John’s Masonic Lodge #13 AF & AM, president of the Kenansville Lions Club, and as president of NARFE in Duplin and Sampson Counties. He was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. Mr. Wilson was also a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, where he served as Adult Sunday School Class teacher and church treasurer for many years.
He was preceded in death by a daughter; parents, W.C. and Bertha Hardee Wilson; eight brothers; and a sister.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nancy Grady Wilson; daughter, Carolyn Wilson, of Chapel Hill; sons, Steven Bryan Wilson and wife, Lisa, of Teachey, NC, and Gerald Bond Wilson and wife, Sarah, of Kenansville, NC; grandchildren, Emily Grace, Andrew and Katherine Wilson; and a brother, Bobby Wilson, of Dunn.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, 1106 Hwy 11-903 North, Kenansville, NC 28349.
